28 weeks pregnant and nervous about baby movements?
Posted by admin on Nov 11, 2009
Im 28 weeks pregnant and still not noticing a pattern to my babies movements. Also some days i go hours without feeling her move. I dont know if this is normal. It feels very inconsistent. This is my first pregnancy so i dunno what is normal… please offer me advice. thank you.
I think it’s fine. My baby doesn’t move constantly and he’ll sleep for hours at a time and I wont feel him. Also I’m 37wks and he still had no "regular or normal" patterns as to when he’s awake and when he likes to sleep. He just does whatever he wants (lol). He was still kind of quiet for me at 28wks. As long as you’re feeling your baby throughout the day, everyday now then all is well. Some docs have mothers do "kick counts", but if your doc hasn’t told you to do those then don’t worry about them. As long as she’s moving she’s ok. Your little one will start to sleep a lot more as these last few weeks go by. If it’ll make you feel better you can go into L&D and they’ll check her. She sounds totally normal to me though. Congrats on your little sweet pea
Gestational Diabetes question?
Posted by admin on Nov 6, 2009
Hi, has anyone been really overweight when fallen pregnant & not suffered from Gestational Diabetes during that pregnancy? My OB is convinced I’m going to get it due to my weight, I’m due to have a GTT in next couple of weeks but told her I had one just prior to falling pregnant & it was negative. My pregnancy was not planned, I was about to go on a strict diet & exercise program to lose weight & never planned to get pregnant but it just happened but my OB has me stressed about all the things that can go wrong given my weight in this pregnancy.
Just because you are overweight does not mean that you will get Gestational Diabetes! Don’t stress about it until proven otherwise. Sounds like your doctor likes to scare people.
There are many ‘skinny’ women out there who are diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. No matter what your size, it is controllable as long as you follow the diet.
If your doctor continues to throw scare tactics at you simply because you are overweight, find another doctor
Better yet, see if a midwife will take you..
28 weeks pregnant and brown spotting/discharge normal?
Posted by admin on Nov 6, 2009
I’m 28 weeks pregnant and my discharge the last 2 days has been a little more brown. It’s not very heavy. Is this normal?
i haven’t had sex in weeks as I had a cerclage placed at 21 weeks. I don’t have any other sympotoms and the amount is not a lot/
Brown discharge usually indicates "old" blood… like blood that you’ve produced in the last couple of days that is just now being expelled.
Have you had sex within, like, the last 3 days? That’s usually the number one cause of spotting. It’s cervical bleeding, from your cervix being over-sensitive and filled with extra blood-vessels from pregnancy, and can bleed due to friction or constant touching (like from sexual activity) and there is no harm to you or the baby.
The other cause of bleeding is placental. This is where the actual placenta bleeds (for various reasons) and there is a 1 in 3 chance of miscarriage with placental bleeding.
I wouldn’t worry too much – unless you’re bleeding enough to soak two maxi pads (a general rule of my doctor), then it shouldn’t be any cause for concern (yeah right, right??
).
Just go to your doctor and get checked out if you’re really freaked out. But I’d say, at 28 weeks, you’ll know if you’re miscarrying .. I’m also 7 months and your baby should weigh about 2 lbs and be about 14 inches long. If you were to expell that, you’d notice!
Good luck, sweetie… just remember to take care of yourself!
Anyone have diabetes during pregnancy?
Posted by admin on Oct 30, 2009
I am 15 weeks pregnant and I had gestational diabetes with my last child. I am going in for a early glucose test in two weeks, but the doc wanted me to start pricking my finger and testing now just so she can see what is it usually. The last few day I have been feeling shakey and have a headach and just can’t seem to control my blood sugar. The doctor never told me what a normal pregnant blood sugar should be. Does anyone know? It has been 60 before and right now its up to 210. Which way should it be, up or down?
The only thing with sugar I have had today is a glass of caffeine free coke.
I have type 2 diabetes and have since I was 2 and I am now 25 and have a beautiful 9 month old son. When you are pregnant the Dr’s don’t want you bloodsugar above 130, it sounds like they need to put you on insulin for your gestational diabetes. The was it was explained to me, that no matter how low you bloodsugar is (which from the syptoms you are describing it sounds like a low bloodsugar) the baby will be fine, but the higher your bloodsugars are it uses more of the oxygen in the amniotic fluid therefore taking away the amoniotic fluid from the baby which is not good. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions, and good luck.
Im 28 weeks pregnant and have noticed my baby dropping is this normal?

Im only 28 weeks pregnant and have noticed that my belly has dropped quiet a bit is this normal has anyone else dropped this early?
That could just be the baby moving down. The baby is able to move all over now. I am also 28 weeks and when she hangs out at the bottom it makes me look like I am carrying lower then when she is towards my ribs. She also stays under my belly button for the most part. She only wonders every now and then.
Diabetes during pregnancy?

My Dr wants me to get a diabetes test done and I am 23 weeks pregnant…Are gestational diabetes like regular diabetes? I am a bit worried about this since type 2 diab. runs in my family. I have been trying my best to steer clear of junk food (I have a really bad sweet tooth!) but have also given in quite a few times to cookies, etc during my pregnancy…is that going to contribute to me getting this form of diabetes?? How serious is it??
Diabetes complicates about 8 percent of pregnancies each year. About 75 percent of these diabetic pregnancies are gestational diabetes—that is, the woman is diagnosed as having diabetes during the pregnancy. Of the remaining, 23 percent involve preexisting type 2 diabetes and about 1 to 2 percent involves preexisting type 1 diabetes.
The issues surrounding preexisting diabetes are slightly different from those faced by women who ?rst develop diabetes during pregnancy. Women who have diabetes before they become pregnant have to deal with glucose control at conception and early in pregnancy. If there are any diabetes-related complications, these may also have an impact on the pregnancy. Women who have gestational diabetes are faced with learning all about diabetes, including watching their diet and taking insulin, while pregnant

im getting ready to dy my hair and im 28 weeks pregnant will it be ok?
Posted by admin on Oct 24, 2009
im 28 weeks pregnant im dying it brown cuz right its dyed blonde and my roots are 3 inches long and my mom wants me to dye it before my baby shower will the baby be ok any tips?
I’m glad I caught this question before it runs out of time to answer….4 mins left!!!
Okay, it is ABSOLUTELY alright to dye your hair after your first trimester.
Being in a well ventilated area is a great idea, even outside if it’s nice! You should use Garnier Nutrisse as it’s all natural at-home dye, if you have not dyed your hair already!
It is perfectly safe.
28 weeks pregnant with low pelvic pressure?
Posted by admin on Oct 21, 2009
Im 28 weeks pregnant and having low pelvic pressure. It hurts when i roll over onto my other side and when im getting out of bed. Is this normal what could it be? Im not bleeding or anything.
1) If you’re worried, call your doctor.
2) It sounds normal. The baby is growing and your ligaments are stretching. Just take it easy, stay hydrated and rest until your next appointment. Remember that you have a LOT of nerves for the baby to put pressure on – when you roll over is it a sharp or dull pain?
Nonetheless, I wouldn’t worry too much.
Moms and pregnant moms: Gestational Diabetes and pregnancy?
Posted by admin on Oct 18, 2009
I was just told I have Gestational Diabetes….I see the nurse on Monday but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and what happened during your pregnancy and after? Does it go away? I’m 31 weeks along. I know I can read up on it but I’d rather have personal experiences. Thank you.
I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy. And frankly, aside from having to watch what you eat, it’s not that big of a deal. Just listen to what your doctor tells you and follow his orders so that way, your baby will be safe. And I do believe they go away after you have your baby. Mine did. However, I think it makes the risk of developing diabetes later on higher.
