Good for you – the last thing that a diabetic needs is any processed food at all. Your staple diet should be based around meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, salads and only as many carbs as your physician recommends and all these carbs should come in the form of real food – fruit, whole grains etc

Hi there – thanks very much for your comment.
The feelings that come with blood sugar highs and lows are not well known and they are quite upsetting to live with. I really feel for you.
Your point on baked potatoes is a good one – they are high GI foods. I do find most people I work with are OK with baked potatoes (particularly when eaten with a low fat/high protein food). However, I do have a couple of very carb sensitive clients who can’t cope with them at all. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks very much for this video, Zoe. Why more people don’t know about this is incredible to me.
I’ve been hypo as long as I can remember. It makes me tired but more than that it makes me confused and depressed.
I would add though, that, a baked potato isn’t the best thing. It’s a high GI food. Sweet potato is better.

Wow – what a great reminder of just how serious blood sugar problems are. My brother is diabetic and he has been in a hypoglycaemic state a couple of times and he gets to the stage where he doesn’t know his name or where he is – it’s so scary. Blood sugar levels literally are life threatening.

Me and one of my brothers are both hypoglycemic, but I haven’t heard what you said about the body not recognizing what was eaten. I did not eat much when I was growing up, and then there were times when all we had was a bucket of sugar in our cabinet. =\ Sometimes we didn’t have food at all. hypoglycemia can lead to coma and even death. I have had my blood sugar mess up in the past causing me to black out, even not be able to fix myself something to eat because it gets to where you cant think.
