did anyone with adult onset diabetes start out with hypoglycemia?
Posted by admin on Nov 6, 2009
i’m hypoglycemic and the information i’m finding goes back and forth about how it’s the beginning stages of adult onset diabetes. so i would like to know if anyone had hypoglycemia, didn’t treat it (still eating sugar and so on), and then got diabetes. can low blood sugar lead to high blood sugar? diabetes is high blood sugar right? see i really need some input.
yes i have had my blood sugar tested. what kind of question in that anyways?
go f*ck yourself, hoosier, you uppity prick. what basis do i have….jerk….i’ve had a very difficult time controling my hypoglycemia considering i was an alcoholic.
I’m type two and never had a hypoglycemic episode… for what it’s worth.
I’ve heard of it happening, but I have no idea as to what kind of frequency we’re talking about.
Yes, diabetes is a condition of high blood sugar… not always the same cause, though. That’s why there’s two major types…. one and two.
Yes! Often hypoglycemia and/or weight gain is the precursor to type 2 diabetes. The thing to do for the hypoglycemia and also for diabetes is to follow the diabetic low carbohydrate diet. This will help to balance your glucose over the long haul. Sometimes you may even crave sugar when you are going into a hypoglycemia spell. When that happens use only a small amount of something sweet, a glass of milk or a carbohydrate. You will still have a craving until what you eat gets into your blood system to raise your sugar, maybe 20 or 30 minutes. Do not overload on sweets or carbs at that time because you don’t want your blood sugar to go sky high. Do keep your doctor appointments and check-ups, little or no alcohol and a good exercise routine. A good diabetic who takes care of themselves can have a longer healthier life than non-diabetics who abuse their bodies.

Hypoglycemia is NOT a common precursor to diabetes. HypERglycemia is the common precursor. However, there can be complications from chronic hypoglycemia other than diabetes. Diabetes is not one of them. Hypoglycemia can be a complication of treating diabetes, especially when treating it with short-acting insulin, but that’s a different matter, altogether.
Upon what basis are you claiming hypoglycemia? Has your blood sugar actually been tested? Hypoglycemia was over-diagnosed for a while. The reality, it turns out is that some people may be extra sensitive to the body’s normal release of the hormone epinephrine after a meal, and the epinephrine effects mimic some hypoglycemia symptoms.
