Oh, I just had my test Monday.

Here's what I had to done and have done in the past with my previous pregnancies.

You can't eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours. And good luck because if you're like me, I get very sick on an empty stomach. If you throw up the syrup you will have to retest another day.

They give you a sweet, soda like syrup. Usually it is glucola, which contains 50g of gluclose. Then you have to wait 1 hour to see how it was absorbed into the blood and metabolized. Last you will have your blood drawn for the test.

Good luck to you.
References :
You can have water but otherwise you should be fasting from the night before. It pays to go in first thing in the morning.
References :
If I remember correctly, it is a fasting test. You can't eat or drink anything else before or after until the test is completed.

The drink you drink is full of sugar and tastes NASTY....like flat orange soda or flat fruit punch that is loaded with sugar.

And you have to tell the people that are doing your test that you are fasting......and make sure you look at the time when you drink it......they have to do the test w/in an hour of you drinking it.......and you have to drink it w/in 5-7 minutes...you can't just sip on it for an hour. Which is a bummer. I just gulped it down because it was quicker.
References :
Hope this helped!!

You have between 5-7 min to drink the stuff. If you eat or something make it something little if you have to, but do NOT eat anything with sugar such as a candy bar before your test. I took mine just last tue. And he didnt say I couldnt eat, just that only if I really had to. I was told the drink was nasty, to me it tasted just like orange pop. Wasnt half bad. Remember it has to be exactly 1 hr.
