How many vials of blood do they take in a Gestational Diabetes test?

Just curious because i HATE needles and i was told they take 8 tubes… And if i walk in there and they tell me they have to take 8 tubes im gonna turn around and walk back out, thats ridiculous… Im sorry. I am very stubborn when it comes to hospitals, doctors, and NEEDLES.

8 test tubes, ONE needle….

I am not sure how many tubed they take, I am pretty sure they just take 1 but they have to do one before the drink and one after the drink (if you’re doing the soda drink one) but they might have other tests they have to do that require more viles of blood….the different toppers go to different sections in the lab.

with the first test they only poke your finger. if you have to go back and take the 3 hour one because you failed the first one they take 4 i think. one before you start-then you drink the sugary drink of death then they take one every hour for 3 hours. i just did it a couple of months ago and it wasnt that bad and i also hate needles!!! eeekkk!

I thought the diabetes test was the one where you drink the super sweet orange soda and then pee in a cup…

But maybe you already did that? I honestly don’t think they need any vials of blood. Regular diabetes is just a finger prick on a strip that tells your blood sugar immediately.

Baby BOY due in MAY:

First I drank the glucose drink 45 minutes before my appointment. Then, the nurse drew 2 vials of blood. I haven’t gotten a call back from the doc so I’m assuming my results were good. She said no news is good news.

It really isn’t that bad…the vials are filled in less than 2 minutes.
